I watched "Hawking" with my sister last night and I fell in love with the actor who played Stephen Hawking. He was adorably geeky. And the discussions on space! Yum! More thesis material. <3 It's funny how I've been obsessed with space since we read Baudelaire two sems ago.

I spent most of last week reading stuff on copyrighting public space because of Anish Kapoor's "The Cloud Gate" / "The Bean":

The sculpture and the Mille nnium Park has gotten me crazy over the supposed improbabilities of copyrighting public space. It's crazy how there's so much fuss over huge pieces of metal set by Kapoor and his workers with public money on copyrighted public concrete.

Heights, the Official Literary Publication and Organization of the Ateneo de Manila University, is now accepting contributions for its 2nd regular issue of Volume 52.

You may submit short stories, poems, and essays both in English and Filipino. You may also submit works for the visual art gallery. Art contributions must go with the theme of movement or dance.

i'm supposed to be reading for my classes or working on my org tasks, but what am i doing downloading mp3s? yeah. procrastination to the max (digression for dorks: le sigh). so that's what my life is full of, supposed to bes, and i love every supposed to be that there is. heh. give me this: i'm supposed to be __________ but i'm ___________. i'll fill up hundreds of those in less than a minute. i'm supposed to be writing an essay but i'm blog posting. i do it so well! hahahaha!

anyway, since enjoying too much has made me feel guilty enough, i shall multi-task. i shall download and listen to mp3s, while blog posting, and i shall get one essay from my org tasks done. this will be my extra challenge for the day. tell you what? i'll come back later and post whatever i've come up with. deal? deal.

Worf Meets God at the Voyager Laundromat

Because the starship's life-support system
Had begun to malfunction, and he needed
To clear his humanoid head and blaspheme

The command of a superior officer who meted
Out duties like an android with amnesia,
Worf wended his way to the laser-heated,

Faux-folksy but spotless Laundry Arena,
There to expertly expunge the daily dirt
From his uniform, and the cosmic bacteria.

While the crew idled in Stay-Clean shirts,
In a temporarily suspended animation,
He stuffed his jammies, trousers, and shorts

Into a Vacuum-Vulcanizing Star-Station

"Holstering his gun with a sigh, again Worf
Eased into his chair and said, "Leave me alone.
I can't abide charlatans, and you're the fourth

God-pretender I've met in this millennium.
The other turned himself into a burning bush.
"Won't work," Worf muttered over the Maytag's hum.

The visitor re-formed itself in a dazzling rush
Of sparks: now it appeared as a Klingon vixen,
All Amazonian brawn and steely-eyed machisma.

Worf's jaundiced eye took stock of this vision
Of delight, this female soul-mate warrior,
And his jaw dropped. "I'm not usually given"

To praising anyone, especially a delusion, or
An alien apparition, but you're quite a sight,"
He confessed. The Klingon babe began to purr:

"Listen, Worf. I can be an antidote or anthracite,
A black hole or black widow, God or the Devil,
Or..." a buzzer sounded, then the blinking light

On the Maytag flashed out "Completed Cycle."
Worf snapped his fingers to end the program,
Removed his clean clothes, put them in a bundle.

"I don't believe in supreme beings, holy holograms,
God-the-Almighty, some everlasting Shapeshifter,
Amorphous spirits or anthropomorphic deities. I am,

"Worf continued, "a die-hard, warp-speed agnostic,
And I need to get back to the deck and my commander."
But he paused to take one more long, lustful look

At the buxom Klingon imposter, then he cleared
His throat. "If you can actually prove you're God,
Then I'll become your first starship apostle, my dear.

"But the queenly form was vanishing, even now
As Worf spoke, and in its place there grew
The spitting image of a sadly decrepit Mr. Spock.

"I always wanted to be a poet, but I knew
I'd have to settle for playing God," Spock said.
"Right," Worf grinned, "but I much prefer you

in your former guise. It's easier to idolize."
He turned squarely on his boot heel, exited.
Spock faded; the Arena buzzed on, untelevised.

another layout overhaul, and Em's back into the blogging scene. oooh, yeah. i thought it was a cold, lovely, rainy day when i woke up this morning, and so i decided to put my citrus-y mood into full use. look at my clean, semi-orange, semi-caffeinated colors. orange, and coffee: that's what part of this universe will be about. HEH. so much for foreseeing what i'll be writing about, eh? anyway, it's time to hit the sack for me. let's see what i'll be serving in the days to come.

i've made my blog layout more organised. now people don't have to deal with two scroll bars in order to view my posts. the simpler the better, i guess. i just need to tweak the colors, and fix the picture. that is, as soon as my photobucket account regains its sanity. i'll be doing all the tweaking tomorrow anyway.

i was talking to a friend a while ago and he said that i seldom post happy things in my blog. well that's because i don't access my blog when i'm happy-- or maybe i don't go online when 70% of my system is composed of triple espressos of sunshine. maybe i face the sad, blank, posting screen only when i'm depressed or stressed, and soothe my tired, stricken self with the clicking of technological plastic. so what's the realisation? publishing stuff online is, in a way, cathartic for me. when life works for me at least, i don't see the purpose of purging happiness out of my system.

i cut all my classes and turned off my phone to forget about Aria. i just stayed at the pub room and had fun the whole day with the Peachy, TowTow, Martin, other pub room regulars, and the Art Staff.

i'm proud to say that the Art Staff is officially done with regular delibs for the first Heights regular issue. we have accepted 4 artworks (two of which belong to Kim and me, and were accepted with revision), and 4 photos. yay!

i just came from the surprise inuman that Earnie planned for Camsie. i'm so happy that she was clueless about it even if Cels and i kinda spoiled some part of the surprise:

haha! it has been a long time since i had bottles with my friends and it felt so good to be in Los Otros again. theSHITs Frat Keg Party CD was set full-blast on John's speakers, and everyone was carelessly taking down gin, vodka, Sprite, rum, and Gatorade. we were all boisterous borrachos in no time. i remember some guy was enjoying his KFC chicken meal beside me, and started talking about the Most Romantic Award he won a few days back.. talk about engaging yourself in an intelligent conversation. 0_o

i'm more or less de-stressed after everything. Humanities Week is coming and i've stopped aring about all the people who are unnecessarily eager about Lit Night. bahala kayo. i'm project head of this thing and you will never be able to force me to fit a theatrical presentation like A Midsummer Night's Dream into Aria.

working on a week-late paper seems to be the most lame excuse for staying up late. when you're a lit major and you can't finish an easy paper on parody, you get to think about two things: it's either you hate the poems assigned to you and you don't see the point of gathering enough mental fuel to start on the paper, or you just can't with your puny little brain do it. right now, i'm more inclined to believe the second part of the statement.

two weeks ago, i thought that getting over my Lit Theory midterms and my Theo orals was the last leg of my academic suffering. i now find out that things are getting worse. im being tormented by co-curricular's: aside from my having to rush art delibs to make it back into production schedule, i also have to organise a lot of stuff for Aria. we still don't have invites, and we haven't accomplished event planning and logistics. Larry's also asking Vittorio to work on the Tapatan thing and i can't afford to let go of Vittorio because he's my Externals Head and there'll be no one to reserve tents, buy materials in Divisoria, etc. waaaah

Aria, the year's Humanities Week Literary Night will be on the 22nd, and it seems as if nothing's happening. the project is not moving, and i have no idea how to make it do something else. i am dead i tell you. dead. as dead as my staff was during the Art Talks, and as dead as my Live Journal is.

once again, i'm in this do or die mission where everyone's sprinting for their lives and i'm the only one who does not have an armor and a rifle to defend myself. this scene, where the cutest boy i've ever met is screaming for me to save him. he has gotten me flowers from the enemy camp and the worst thing of him getting caught and tortured has happened. this is the story of my life: i land in one movie that is plotted on the ambivalence of a Twilight Zone episode, and the one thing i'm not supposed to do is sit down, think things through, and just wait for something to happen. because there is no chapter to follow, no other episode but a series of events where i unknowingly pick the next adventure to slap me right in the face.
